Jami Averwater was born and raised in the Volunteer State. She attended Middle Tennessee State University, where she graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Currently, Jami is a second-year law student at Belmont University College of Law and is slated to graduate May 2019.
Jami’s interest in politics and the impact of digital strategy in the political arena make her trajectory into the legal realm a unique one. While at MTSU, she served as President of the MTSU College Republicans giving it the jump-start needed to make it the largest political organization on campus. Jami has been tapped to run the communication and social media efforts for several local election campaigns. Never one to shy away from an adventure, Jami spent time working with The Leadership Institute, in Arlington, Virginia, as part of their digital strategy team.
Jami joined Collins Legal as a Legal Intern in January 2017. With her background in digital strategy, Jami quickly became the firm’s in-house social media guru. By following Jami’s lead, Collins Legal saw a significant increase in its social media analytics. This culminated in the firm creating a staff position for her – Digital Strategist. Jami now leads the firm’s digital marketing efforts and serves as the point person for all other marketing efforts.
Jami finds time to indulge her interests in business and civic work, as she serves on several nonprofit boards, regularly attends networking events around the greater Nashville area, and volunteers at a local legal immigration clinic.
